What is RoHS?
RoHS is the acronym for Restriction of Hazardous Substances. RoHS, also known as Directive 2002/95/EC, originated in the European Union and restricts the use of specific hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products. All applicable products in the EU market after July 1, 2006 must pass RoHS compliance.

What are the restricted materials mandated under RoHS?
The substances banned under RoHS are lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (CrVI), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).

Why is RoHS compliance important?
The restricted materials are hazardous to the environment and pollute landfills, and are dangerous in terms of occupational exposure during manufacturing and recycling.

How are products tested for RoHS compliance?
Portable RoHS analyzers, also known as X-ray fluorescence or XRF metal analyzers, are used for screening and verification of RoHS compliance.

Which companies are affected by the RoHS Directive?
Any business that sells applicable electronic products, sub-assemblies or components directly to EU countries, or sells to resellers, distributors or integrators that in turn sell products to EU countries, is impacted if they utilize any of the restricted materials.

Our LMI High Density Euro style PCB Header is available in 2 - 20 poles, with a PIN spacing of 3.5 mm and is able to handle high voltages of up to 300V using large current levels up to 8 Amps. The PCB Header is solidly constructed and has been intensively tested and approved by the UL/CSA and IMQ/VDE.

The PCB Header has very small space requirements, is ruggedly built and can withstand up to 105 degrees centigrade. This PCB Header is very safe and fabricated from the material: PA66 which has a flame ability rating of UL94V0

The PCB Header guarantees a secure mate between plug and header, especially valuable in vibration applications. The PCB Header from LMI is currently in use in millions of applications all over the world and all share the following properties:

• Aids in identifying circuits for easy testing and repair in the field
Each PCB Header is soldered directly to the circuit board and is designed to easily integrate with LMI’s Pluggable Connectors.

The Euro Style PCB Header has a very tiny footprint that minimizes space requirements.

These PCB Headers are ideal for and widely used in HVAC, Irrigation Systems, Industrial Controls, Security Systems, Process Control and Data Acquisition applications and other electrical markets.
